MARINE UNIT TRAINING (LIMITED PLACES)
For members of the H.E.A.T. TEAM – Marine Unit we have a special training session on the morning of Saturday 18 March at a privately booked public swimming baths.

ERT SAR ACTIVITY / TRAINING PROPOSAL

PURPOSE
To facilitate recordable Water Rescue training and practice established water safety and rescue skills compliant to established standards for SURFACE & SWIFT WATER RESCUE

OBSERVATION / STANDARDS
The training will observe established best practice for the safe training of water rescue and water based competencies. It will be compliant with NFPA (National Fire Protection Association) 1006 established protocols and SOPs / SOGs for water rescue.

SUMMARY:
The activities will be in 2 or 3 phases and 4 stations. Not all activities are guaranteed and 7 may be excluded, depending on time. Planned activities are:

1. Don / Doff PPE (Drysuits, Helmets, Gloves Boots and PFD)

2. Recognition of Hazards and local nomenclature

3. Drowning and Self Rescue Drills

4. Use of Throwbags and Reaching tools (RETHROG)

5. Victim Recovery – Medical

6. Boat Skills and 2 methods to recover team capsized rescue boat

7. In water skills and technical portion (Rope tying, PFD drill, swim etc)

NB: Drysuits and PPE will be allocated to SRT / Swift Water Rescue Members and allocated members of ERT SAR.

Final list allocated within 5 days of event.

AUDIENCE
This is a private session for members of ERT SAR H.E.A.T. TEAM, some B Squad Responders / Applicants to HEAT Team and special invited participants from the Emergency Services. This is not a public course and the pool is privately booked for 18.

Saturday 18 March 2017 approximately 9:30 am to 12:30 pm total time. (Pool = 2 hrs)

COST (FREE / $40)
There is NO COST to attend this as an invited member of ERT Search and Rescue or the Emergency Services listed.

There is a $40 admin fee associated with receiving printed sheets of your training along with a Certificate of Attendance (a record of training which may be needed for those with certifications who need to show Annual Training minimums or training log signed) and a Plastic Wallet Card. This is paid in advance by 14th March and not refundable for cancellations or fail to show.

IMPORTANT NOTES
This is a fun and informative training session. Safety is everyone’s responsibility. We will expect everyone to complete a training activity waiver. We will photo / film portions of this training and expect everyone to sign a media waiver allowing us to do so. A final training / activity outline will be sent 5 days before. A basic fitness level and swimming ability is required. RIT will comprise of Pool Lifeguard/s and members assigned to the role. No one is required to do anything that they feel uncomfortable with.

NOTE: Wanna come watch but not get wet?…We will have a few spaces for members who wish to assist and watch and take photos of the training but not participate.
