TRIP DOWN MEMORY LANE
This photo was one of the first public event photos taken of members in ERT SAR (The Emergency Response Team Search and Rescue) with the first ever RESCUE41 4×4 Rescue Ambulance.

Taken in 2003 at the Lord Mayors Parade in Oxfordshire it features Gary, Virginia, Paul, Alex and Dave by their Land Rover Series III LWB (Long Wheel Base) converted Military Ambulance. (Present there, but absent in the photo is Jonathan).

The ambulance housed Technical Rescue equipment as well as two stretcher bays with associated medical and trauma equipment.

The team drew a lot of attention as they interacted with the public in their very smart blue uniforms with their trademark shiny boots and duty belt kit. They displayed their rescue and medical equipment in two Ambulances they had there and were very popular with the visiting public.

This year, the team will celebrate 15 years since their founding.

ERT SAR recognizes all it’s wonderful active members and volunteers past and present who have been invaluable in achieving their mission to alleviate suffering and rescue and treat victims nationally and internationally.

Gary, Virginia, Paul and Jonathan are still Trustees / Members.

The Team was originally named “Oxfordshire Search and Rescue” (OSAR) after the County they were founded and registered as a charity. Many in the county still know them as OSAR and they are still based in Henley.

Around 10 years ago they became known nationally and internationally as The “Emergency Response Team Search and Rescue” (ERTSAR).

(ERT SAR is aware of another group calling themselves Oxfordshire Lowland Search and Rescue in the County. ERT SAR / OSAR is nothing to do with them.)

ERT SAR was founded in 1st December 2002 by Gary and Virginia Foo although had its genesis in Canada and the UK many years before.
